Lysterfield South
This Lysterfield South project was created as a relaxed country-style landscape, featuring a large custom-built verandah off the home, natural stonework, gravel pathways, fire pit area and layered native-style planting. Designed to sit naturally within its rural surroundings, the landscape connects the home to the garden with curved paths, open lawn, timber details and low-maintenance planting that provides texture, movement and year-round appeal.
This Lysterfield South project was designed to create a relaxed country-style landscape that sits naturally within the surrounding rural setting. The garden combines a large custom-built verandah, natural stonework, feature gravel paths, layered planting and open lawn areas to create a warm, inviting outdoor space with a strong connection to the home.
A major part of this project was the construction of the large verandah off the house, creating a generous covered outdoor area for entertaining, relaxing and enjoying the views across the property. The timber posts and open roof structure give the space a strong architectural presence while still feeling natural and in keeping with the landscape.
The garden was designed with a soft, informal feel, using natural boulders, timber elements, gravel pathways and layered planting to blend the home into its surroundings. Curved paths lead through the property, connecting the driveway, lawn, fire pit area and verandah spaces while creating a sense of movement through the garden.
A feature fire pit zone was incorporated into the landscape, framed by curved concrete edging, gravel surfacing and natural stone. This creates a relaxed gathering space that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
The planting palette includes a mix of native and hardy ornamental plants, grasses, silver foliage and textured greenery, chosen to suit the open Lysterfield South environment and provide a low-maintenance, natural finish. Feature lighting was also used throughout the garden to highlight pathways, planting and key landscape elements at night.
The finished result is a timeless rural landscape that feels established, practical and beautifully connected to the home.
